Charlie Harper | Birds | Watercolor & Paper Collage
Our first project is inspired by the bright, stylized birds of American Modern artist, Charley Harper. We will paint a watercolor background, and then a paper collage to create a scene of birds chirping in the trees.

Vincent Van Gogh | Portrait of the Postman | Charcoal Drawing on Ceramic
Van Gogh was known primarily as a painter, but his charcoal drawings are wonderful too! We’ll apply a color wash to the ceramic plate, then learn how to use specialty glaze pencils to sketch out the Postman’s portrait.

Théophile Steinlen | Tour du Chat Noir | Acrylic on Canvas
The piece featured in week three can be seen in bistros and living rooms the world over. It was created as an advertisement by the French Art Nouveau painter & printmaker, Théophile Alexandre Steinlen. We’ll be replicating his original poster with acrylics on canvas.

Eva Zeisel | Ceramic teacup and saucer | Hand building with clay
Zeisel was a self-declared “maker of useful things” and skillful ceramics designer. We’ll take inspiration from her simple, natural shapes as we mold a useful teacup and saucer from clay.
